Ron Taylor

Ron Taylor, guest on the Qavah Podcast

Ron Taylor was born in Wylie, Texas in 1943.  He grew up in Garland, Texas and attended Garland schools.  Following graduation, he attended college and then was drafted into the U.S. Army.  He married Elizabeth Taylor one month before shipping out to Vietnam.  While in the war Ron relied on his faith, the prayers of his grandmother and the support of his church, which sent him weekly letters.  Ron’s bravery during the war was noticed and he was given a Bronze Star for heroic service. Upon his return in 1969, he attended East Texas State University, now Texas A&M Commerce, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in History and PE, followed by a Master's and Doctorate in Educational Administration.  He began his career in Garland ISD where he served as a teacher, principal and Director of Elementary Schools.  The last 9 years of his career were spent as Headmaster at Heritage Christian Academy in Rockwall, Texas. To honor his retirement, HCA named a building in his honor, the Dr. Ron and Elizabeth Taylor Education Building. He and Elizabeth are the parents of two daughters, Sarah and Amy, and have 5 grandchildren.
