Lydia Nimbeshaho
Lydia Nimbeshaho is a survivor of Rwandan Genocide against Tutsi, a public speaker and the founder of Beyond the Veil. She is passionate about sharing knowledge for hope and restoration through Beyond the Veil, a non-profit organization that brings awareness on mental health and its effect on Rwandan’s well-being.
At the age of 6, Lydia witnessed the murder of her parents in the Rwandan Genocide against Tutsi, and she was forced to grow up quickly to face many challenges that most of us only meet late into adulthood. The difficulties she faced at the young age ignited her compassion to impact lives and bring about positive change through education and sharing hope.
After the Genocide, Lydia started a new life in Toronto Ontario since 2010 where she received her B.A., Honours in Sociology and Sexuality Studies, and she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Counselling. Lydia now tells her story to different communities to share the impact of genocide on Survivors.
She currently lives in Hamilton, Ontario with her husband and three children.
